I’ve recently finished a pretty fun Japanese dungeon crawling game called Demon Gaze by Nippon Ichi Software, and stitched up this teeny tiny very simple design to go in my patchwork sampler.
Each of the symbols represents one of the Demons – in this game, they are men and women with super strong magical powers that you have to defeat in each of the dungeons, then they will join your team and help you defeat stronger demons, overcome evil and save the world, etc. etc. – fairly typical video game stuff, really!
The Demons are named mostly for the planets of the solar system, so I used the astrological star sign symbols for each. I got the symbol designs from this screengrab of a sword protected by the runes of the 10 Demons:
I do these little pieces with offcuts of fabric and leftover threads, so this one was made up with some really shiny satin DMC threads that I can’t even remember buying! They do look good though, shining in the sun and really vibrant on the black fabric. I wish I had a camera to do justice to them, but my photography skills and equipment are both seriously lacking I’m afraid. Maybe I will try to find a way to incorporate them into my work, but I suspect they may stay in the stash box until Christmas stitching time rolls around. It’s the only time of year that I feel like I can just go crazy with beads and metallics and glitter and no-one will think it’s tacky!
Anyway, this pattern, simple as it is, can be downloaded here: Demon Gaze Logo Chart
